So yesterday the show was sparse, but was happy to be back. I have to say day 2 was much better. The crowds were definitely larger than they were on day 1 and everyone I spoke with was in great spirits. We are all just happy to be back to some sense of normalcy with the convention scene.

Like I said the crowds were definitely larger than the previous day. As I walked up to the convention center I could see people everywhere. Seeing this felt good, like this community I love so much has decided to not let this thing we all love so much go quietly into the night. We are ready to be back and we are here.

But the best part for me is still the comics. Getting to walk artist alley and talk to creators. Today was no exception. The first creator I talked to today was RC Young and independent creator who was happy to just be welcomed into this community and share her work like her book Witchman seen below. I picked it up and I really enjoyed it. Look for interview coming soon to the podcast.

But like I said before a big part was catching up with old friends I haven’t seen in years. For starters I talked to Bob Salley comic book writer and all around really good guy. We caught up on what he’s been up to the last 2 years like his new book Starlight Tavern a sci fi comedy that takes place in a bar at the edge of the universe. And of course the new collected edition of Broken Gargoyles volume 1 pictured below. Look for my interview with Bob coming to the podcast soon.

And of course what is New York Comic Con with out Dirk Manning? He has gone through a lot in the last 2 years and put together a lot of great new books like Butts In Seats: The Tony Schiavone Story and Haunted High-Ons pictiured below. Dirk has been through a lot in the last 2 years and it was great to catch up, look for his interview coming soon to the podcast.

Finally I ran into one of my favorite people on the planet, Ben Goldsmith. Ben is a nomad this year, he doesn’t have a able to promote a particular project, but he was their with his fiancé and loving every moment of the show. He does have an amazing new book out right now called Second Place and you can order from your favorite comic shop as you read this. Since he didn’t have books with him to sell I don’t have a copy pictured below, but his interview will be featured on an up coming episode of the podcast stay tuned!

But I did finally run into the guys from Ocho Duro Parlay Hour Podcast. A great bunch of guys and a great podcast. It was really nice to see them t the show. And we love mentioning them on the podcast.
